Our National Headquarters

• Nationally recognized mid-century modern masterpiece by American architect Gordan Bunshaft, a leading proponent of modern design in the mid-twentieth century and a partner in the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.

• Building was commissioned by the company and originally completed in January, 1965.

• The 125,000 square-foot, eight-story structure stands over 107 feet high with 60% of the building's load absorbed by eight outrigged bearings piers or hinges, creating column-free interior floors supported on six trays spanning the piers.

• It took 2,000 hours to plan the building on the drawing board and 26 months to build.

• The American Enterprise National Headquarters Renovation is the recipient of a 2016 National American Institute of Architects (AIA) Institute Honor Award for Architecture, the profession's highest recognition of works that exemplify excellence in architecture, interior architecture and urban design. This is the same award the building received in 1967 for its original design.

• The company’s contemporary art collection was assembled out of a desire to warm up the workspace and make it come alive.
